How to fix HP Printer offline in windows and mac?

This document can be used in reference with Windows (7, 8, 10), macOS, and OS X operated computers and HP printers only.

In order to troubleshoot you offline HP printer, you may use either the HP Printer and Scan Doctor diagnostic tool or you may manually troubleshoot using the steps below. Be sure to have the corresponding printer driver installed

How to fix HP printer offline for Windows 10

• Search DEVICES under the search bar found on the lower-left side of your screen, then select PRINTERS & SCANNERS from the options listed
• Uncheck the box by LET WINDOWS MANAGE MY DEFAULT PRITNER if not already unchecked
• Find your printer from the list provided, then select MANAGE. Select the printer with an idle/online status if there are several names listed
• Under MANAGE YOUR DEVICE, select SET AS DEFAULT
• At this point, attempt a print job

How to fix HP printer offline for Windows 7, 8

• Search DEVICES under the search bar found on the lower-left side of your screen, then select DEVICES AND PRINTERS from the options listed
• Right-click on the active (not grayed) HP printer, then click SET AS DEFAULT PRINTER
• At this point, attempt a print job

How to fix HP printer offline for Mac 

Make sure your HP Printer is ready:

• Power on your printer if in sleep mode or off
• Be sure to have paper loaded, the right ink cartridges installed, and that there are no blinking lights on your control panel
• Turn your printer off and then on again
• At this point, attempt a print job

Reset printing system:

• Under the Apple menu, select SYSTEM PREFERENCES
• Select PRINT & FAX, PRINT & SCAN, or PRINTERS & SCANNERS
• Right-click anywhere in the Printers screen, then select RESET PRINTING SYSTEM
• Select RESET in the confirmation screen
• Type in the administrator login information, then select OK to complete the resetting process
• Once the HP printer resets, add your HP printer to the list and attempt a print job
